The God who Speaks
The Gospel of Mark will be proclaimed in our Churches in 2021 as part of the the Lectionary Cycle - Year B.
As part of the ongoing 'God who Speaks' initiative, where we seek to explore the richness of Sacred Scripture, we are studing the Gospel of Mark, and there are materials below to aid this.
Each Diocese and Parish are encouraged to enrich current practice and to develop and explore new ways of responding to ‘The God who Speaks’. To help achieve transformation in our hearts and in our communities there will be three themes of celebrating, living and sharing God’s word. As the year progresses there will be opportunities to achieve this. Materials and information can be found on the Bishops’ Conference website http://www.cbcew.org.uk/home/events/the-god-who-speaks/
Lent is a period when we increase our efforts and seek to enter into an ever-deeper relationship with God and our neighbour. This is certainly true of our intention to mark this Year of the Word. Throughout 2021, the Sunday Lectionary (Yr. B) is a semi-continuous reading from the Gospel of Mark. It is a natural choice to study during the season of Lent.
I have created this page on our website, entitled The God who Speaks. This will be a place where all our materials can be found. I have written a course on Mark's Gospel and also Matthew’s Gospel and you can find each of the talks on the website (below).
The material on the Gospel of Mark, has been written to accompany Lent 2021, but I also include the material from the previous Lent, for your use.
